MIGS has five intersecting research streams:

Migration, Mobilities and Diasporas

The Migration, Mobilities and Diasporas stream is co-led by Sarah Linn, Caitlin Nunn, Benedicte Brahic and Behnaz Tareh. Key areas of research include integration and belonging, forced migration, European mobilities, and migrant-background youth.

Environmental Justice

The Environmental Justice stream is led by Ben Bowman and Jennifer Lavender. Key areas of research include youth activism and climate change, climate education, young people and flood risk resilience, nature connectedness and mental health recovery, and migrant and diasporic nature (non)belongings.

Global Justice

The Global Justice stream is led by Daniel Marshall. Key areas of research include philosophies of justice, colonial legacies and criminal justice, international youth justice, and privacy.

Global Education and Youth

The Global Education and Youth stream is co-led by Benedicte Brahic and Nazneen Ismail. Key areas of research include borders in education, widening participation, gendered educational trajectories, the family/Higher Education nexus.

Collaborative and Creative Research

The Collaborative and Creative Research stream is co-led by Sarah Linn, Caitlin Nunn, Nobila Bano and Kieran Boden. Methodological expertise includes participatory arts-based research, co-production, participatory historical geography, and youth participatory action research (YPAR).
